Department Overview:

Luther Memorial is a ELCA church here on campus, and was originally started by a group of 7 UW students way back in 1907.

We offer nursery care to families during both Sunday School and during the 10:30am - 11:30am worship. The nursery is also staffed for choir practice on Thursday nights from 7-9 (if you are available)

Schedule:

The nursery schedule parallels for the most part with the UW Academic calendar. The first Sunday would be ASAP, but with interviews and training could be March 1st.Tthe final sunday can be negotiated but technically May 10th.

Salary/Wage Range:

 Hourly $14.00 to $14.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
  • Gives primary care to children and infants in the nursery from 9am until Noon (with opportunities to serve as a substitute for Thursday evening staff).
  • Arrives by 7:45 a.m. (6:45pm for Thurs) to prepare Nursery for children/sanitize
  • Straightens up & sanitizes before departure after last child is signed out.
  • Maintains a safe environment in the nursery.
  • Welcomes children and provides for their needs as necessary.
  • Communicates with pastors regarding nursery issues and necessary supplies.
  • Keeps sign in/out sheet up to date.

Qualifications:
  • Desire to work with children and infants in a positive way.
  • Experience as a child care giver.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to provide physical care and emotional nurturing for children and infants.
  • Competence in welcoming parents and in building trust relationships with parents of children in the nursery.

Physical Demands

 caring for children. lifting no more than 10 pounds.
