The Soap Opera is a bathing and grooming shop, specializing in custom scents and eco-friendly products. It has been in Madison since 1972 and is a staple of the downtown community!

Position Summary/Job Duties:

We are looking for an energetic, organized, responsible, people loving Sales Associate!  The Soap Opera is a great place to work right on State Street where the action happens! With amazing products, super kind co-workers, happy customers, and a 40% staff discount we think you will truly enjoy working with us!

Main Job Duties:

  • Work one on one with customers to help them find what they're looking for in store, over the phone, and online
  • Price & stock new inventory, as well as maintaining areas of the shop to ensure they're well stocked and looking phenomenal. This will also include ensuring the backstock is well organized
  • General Cleaning such as sweeping/vacuuming/ dusting/ whipping down counters etc.
  • Learn The Soap Operas gift wrapping and custom scenting procedures to help customers
  • Pulling products for online orders and shipping them
  • Creating seasonal displays so the shop is staying on trend and looking great
  • Creating social media posts on occation if something in store seems like it needs to be shared
  • Data entry
  • Other duties that may come up are manufacturing type duties such as bagging herbs, bottling house products, and making soaps

This is a part time position of about 10-30 hours per week. We would need Tuesday/Thursday help, as well as weekends as needed. The ideal candidate will be around for the summer as well.

If you're looking to venture into a full time position into retail at some point, we also have a ton of room for growth with us for the right motivated person.

Qualifications:

Must enjoy working with people and be well organzied, and open to learning.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for up to an 8 hour shift. May have to lift up to 50lbs when new inventory comes in.
