Schedule:

Would need to work all swim trips. Mondays, Wednesdays, and an occasional third day. Can also work more days if available.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position is for a staff member who wishes to be a camp counselor but also acts as our Lifegaurd on Swimming field trips. Candiate is already or will become lifegaurd certified. We will pay for lifeguarding course. 

As the Lifeguard, this person will be responsible for the safety and supervision of campers while swimming. Swim field trips are Mondays & Wednesdays with the occasional Friday. 

They will go on all water field trips with the camp. When at camp location or on non-swim trips staff member will act at a camp couselor and be included within ratio of chidren:adult. When acting as lifegaurd they are not included in ratio and as soley as the lifegaurd watching children in water. 

The Summer Day Camp Counselor will provide a safe fun-filled environment for children ages 5-12 years old. The Counselor will also plan, implement, and supervise activities. These activities are to be utilized to provide adventure and enjoyment to develop new skills and interests in children. The counselor is responsible for the health and safety of children in the program and for maintaining a professional attitude and relationship with parents.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent Lifeguard Certification or willing to complete.
  • Ability to work as a member of a group or team.
  • Experience working with School-Age Children (preferred)
  • Willingness to learn state licensing child care regulations and procedures for licensed programs
  • Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff and community organizations
  • Joy and satisfaction in working with children
  • Enjoys spending time outdoors
