Temple Beth El is the only Reform Jewish congregation in Madison. Schedule:

Religous School meets Sundays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Hebrew School meets on Wednesdays, 4:30 - 6:00 pm during the school year. A full schedule will be provided upon inquiry.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $17.00 to $20.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Wednesday Hebrew Teachers: Teach Hebrew classes for 3rd -7th graders during our midweek Hebrew program. Curriculum is provided. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Teach letter recognition, basic grammar, and prayers
  • Plan innovative and engaging lessons
  • Effectively manage a class of 12-18 students
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians

Sunday Religious School Teachers: Teach holiday, lifecycle, and Jewish values.  Curriculum is provided. Openings in 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grades.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Effectively manage a class of 12-18 students
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians

Qualifications:

Preferred Knowledge and Skills - For Hebrew Teachers:

  • Mastery of Hebrew alef-bet in block and script
  • Familiarity with Reform liturgy
  • Bonus for those who have completed 2 semesters of university-level Hebrew

Preferred Knowledge and Skills - For Religious School Teachers:

  • Familiarity with the Reform movement a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a supplementory school or camp environment
