Position Summary/Job Duties:

Overview

In search of a summer nanny for 30 hours a week most weeks from June to August for two young children, aged 2 and 4. We are located in Westmorland neighborhood, ideal hours are 6 hours a day from Monday-Friday, either 7am-1pm or 7:30am-1:30pm. Could be open to discussion on exact timing. One or both parents will be working from home most, if not all, days.

Duties and expectations

The expectation is that the ideal candidate would get the kids out of the house for some time every day - the park is a block away, and the public library is a 5 minute walk. We live close to the zoo, and have a Madison Children's Museum membership, so ideally we'd love someone who is comfortable driving and parking in Madison and who would be interested in taking the kids out around town.

Duties would include hanging with the kids, doling out snacks as needed, and getting a simple lunch to the kids every day, and getting them put down for naps before leaving. Light housework (tidying up toys, wiping up crumbs/spills, etc.). We'd have a small weekly allowance ($20ish, but open to more for special occasions!) for activities, food/treats out for the kids, parking fees, etc.

We occaisionally have grandparents in town, who may hang with our older son for some hours - so occaisionally would have just one child.

What we're looking for

Ideally, we're hoping for someone who is CPR certified, and who has a driver's license, who has prior experience working with young kids, and is comfortable driving and parking with two kids in Madison. Ideally someone pursuing a degree in an area related to children, but very open to other backgrounds and interests!

About Us/Our Home

Childcare will primarily take place in our home, with adventures outside of the house hopefully daily - either in the neighborhood or surounding areas! We have two small chihuahuas, who we'll keep out of the way of the kids. Our home has a large fenced yard, and play areas for the kids in the living room and basement. We live close to a park and the public library. We are a loving family, and our kids love to be outside, are fascinated by trucks and vehicles, and are curious and fun to be around. We have an E-Bike that can be used to pull a bike trailer to explore other nearby areas and parks with the kids - a favorite activity of ours.

Compensation

We anticipate an hourly rate of $16-19 per hour, depending on experience! Open to negotiation for the right candidate.

Other notes

We're open to negotiation for any of the above! Overall, we're looking for someone who's interested in hanging with two fun boys for a few months this summer, and will make them feel loved and cared for. We think our kids are fun to be around, and are hopeful this could be a great summer experience for someone interested in childcare for young kids!
