Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Schedule:

The Event Setup team is looking for hard working, self-motivated, detail-oriented staff to assist with our summer conference and wedding season. Morning and Weekend shifts are common, so please consider that as you apply.   

Multiple shifts available throughout the day Sunday through Saturday. 

Shifts are between 2 and 4 hours in length, but can be combined for up to 12 hours per day when available. Current available shifts: Sundays 7-11am 11-3pm 3-7pm Mondays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm Tuesdays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm Wednesdays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm Thursdays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm Fridays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm Saturdays 7-11am, 11-3pm, 3-7pm and 7-11pm

Unit Hours

  • Memorial Union and Union South 7am to 11pm, Grainger 7am to 9pm, Pyle Center 7am to 9pm

 

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Work collaboratively with other employees to set up rooms for various events 
  • Provide support and help organize, as needed
  • Assist in event set up/tear down and custodial duties

Qualifications:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills 
  • Physical Demands: Bending, squatting, and twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
