Position Summary/Job Duties:

Adult individuals with normal hearing are needed to participate in listening experiments in the Binaural Hearing & Speech Lab. The task includes a hearing screening and listening sounds presented via headphones.

Participants must be 18 to 29 years of age, have normal hearing, and speak English as first language. In addition, participants should have the ability to pay attention during fairly repetitive tasks, and be able to provide their social security number in order to receive compensation for participation.

Compensation rate is $15/hour. The time commitment for this study is 4.5 hours and takes place at our lab at the UW Waisman Center. During the study visit, you will be asked to do tasks in a quiet room such as have your hearing screened and listen to sounds played through headphones. For about 3 hours of the study visit, you will be asked to wear an EEG cap (similar to a swim cap), which we will use to measure your brain activity while you listen to sounds. While wearing the EEG cap, we will use gel to fill the electrodes; this helps us measure your brain activity. You will feel the gel in your hair but will have a chance to wash it out prior to leaving.
