Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Photography & Content Creation: 
    • Take high-quality photos of Products
    • Edit and enhance photos using photo editing software
  • Mobile Ordering APP Updates:
    • Upload new images, menu items, and marketing content to the Mobile Ordering  app
    • Ensure Mobile Ordering app information is accurate, current, and visually consistent
    • Monitor Mobile Ordering app content for errors or outdated information
  • Digital Menu Board Updates
    • Ensure menu board graphics and layouts are visually attractive and easy to read
    • Schedule and rotate promotional content on menu displays
    • Verify accuracy of menu information and branding standards
  • Perform administrative tasks such as organize files, documents and data entry for the Dining Support Services Office. 

Qualifications:

  • Basic photography and photo editing skills
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of computerized spreadsheet, databases, word processing, and Email
  • Comfortable using mobile apps and digital content systems
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal directions 
  • Aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Basic level of Food Service Knowledge 

 

Student Status

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
