The Office of Educational Opportunity (OEO) exists to incubate educational innovations, to improve known best practices, and to increase educational equity. We are housed within the Universities of Wisconsin— Office of University Relations. Our mission is to put the Wisconsin Idea into action by increasing access to high-quality public educational options, incubating innovations in public education, and sharing what we learn with PK-20 stakeholders. The OEO primary role is to oversee and evaluate current public charter schools authorized by the OEO and review new charter school applications. We are accountable to students, families, communities, and taxpayers.

The Universities of Wisconsin, Office of Educational Opportunity, seeks one part-time Office Assistant to begin in September 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year; approximately 15-20 hours per week; flexible work schedule between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may be extended and become an ongoing appointment through additional academic years.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Universities of Wisconsin, Office of Educational Opportunity, seeks one part-time Office Assistant to begin in September 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year; approximately 15-20 hours per week; flexible work schedule between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may be extended and become an ongoing appointment through additional academic years.

Duties included collecting, organizing, synthesizing and reviewing school level data, creating graphs, file maintenance in a SharePoint database, and website maintenance.

Additional duties include assisting the OEO director with proofreading documents, creating surveys, data entry, scanning files and other miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed. Students pursuing a degree in Education, Education Law, and Business with an interest in charter schools, innovation in education and educational equity are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on assigned tasks.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Tableau databases is desirable.
  • Experience in conducting educational research and compiling and analyzing student achievement data is desirable.
  • Should possess an interest in learning about charter schools and charter school authorization.
