Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Wheelhouse Studios is open 7 days a week from 12PM-10PM.  

 

Anticipated Schedule

Some work will be done in the morning (9 AM-12 PM).  Hours are flexible and will vary during open hours

Hourly $16.00 to $16.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Monitoring studio and storage space and communicating maintenance and safety needs to the appropriate individual.   Assist with cleaning and organizational tasks.
  • Ensure supply inventories by checking stock and communicating needs; unpacking and stocking ordered supplies.
  • Assist in the training of Creative Consultant Staff; cover front desk, when necessary, may assist with student staff scheduling
  • Communicate studio information through making and posting of signs for the general public and new information to student staff.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to take initiative and work independently. Knowledge of artmaking equipment and materials.
  • Send a resume and cover letter outlining your experience with art studios and equipment and any experiences relevant to the job duties.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

Student Status

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
