Position Summary/Job Duties:

Primary responsibilities are hand-weeding and general garden-bed maintenance throughout the growing season. The property includes mature perennial beds, shrubs, ornamental grasses, groundcovers, rock areas and some larger lightly planted/mulched areas.

Plant knowledge is important. Applicant should be able to distinguish common weeds from established perennials and desirable groundcovers and be comfortable working carefully around mature plantings.

Work may also include deadheading, removing spent plant material and light garden cleanup as needed. No mowing or heavy landscaping is required.

This is intended to be an ongoing seasonal position, not just a one-time cleanup. Hours will vary according to the season, generally several hours per visit, with flexible scheduling. More frequent help may be needed during periods of rapid spring and early-summer growth.

Pay: $25–$30/hour, depending on gardening experience.

Gardening, horticulture or landscaping experience is preferred. Students studying horticulture, plant science, environmental science or a related field—or students with substantial personal gardening experience—are especially encouraged to apply.
