Schedule:

  • Part-time Internship | 15–20 hours per week | On-site at State Street

  • Flexible schedule coordinated primarily during weekdays. Some evenings and weekends may be required for planned events. Dates discussed in advance as needed. Scheduling availability needed during Badger Bash Saturday events.

  • Interns encouraged to work with us for at least two semesters for the opportunity to take on more projects, develop skills and build a stronger body of work.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $14.00 to $14.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Join our team!  

The University Book Store is now hiring a Graphic Design Marketing Intern. This role will create work that will be seen by students, alumni, Badger fans and visitors. You’ll get hands-on experience creating print, digital and social content, while learning how design projects move from an idea to a finished piece in a professional marketing environment. You’ll work alongside our entire team, contribute ideas and gain experience with industry standards, project management and designing for an established brand.

Essential Functions:

  1. Design promotional materials including in-store signage, displays, digital graphics, web content and advertising.

  2. Create graphics and content for social media

  3. Brainstorm creative ideas for campaigns, promotions and events

  4. Stay updated on the latest design and social medial trends.

  5. Keep up with current design, digital and social media trends

  6. Help represent the University Book Store at select campus and community events

  7. Collaborate with the marketing team on a variety of creative projects.

  8. Performs all additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Will attend events as a University Book Store representative as needed.

  2. When needed will act as the store mascot “Booky”.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Have a strong understanding of layout, typography and visual design

  • Background using InDesign and Photoshop.

  • Interested in working across print, digital, social, photo and video

  • Photography experience a plus.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines manage multiple projects.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
