Have a well-connected friend group, an active student organization, or an apartment building full of people who could benefit from sharing more and buying less?
Frenting is looking for UW–Madison students to help introduce a new way to access useful things without everyone having to buy their own. Think camping gear for a weekend trip, tools for an apartment project, or supplies for a club event.
As a Community Influencer, you’ll help launch a sharing community among people you know locally. You don’t need a large social media following—enthusiasm, initiative, and a willingness to bring people together matter more.
What you’ll do:
• Introduce Frenting to friends, neighbors, and student groups.
• Help new members get started and understand how sharing works.
• Encourage people to list useful items and try borrowing or renting.
• Organize a local launch gathering with Frenting’s support.
• Use your referral dashboard to follow your community’s activity and earnings.
What you’ll gain:
• Practical experience in grassroots marketing, community building, and event promotion.
• An opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills while helping grow a local startup.
• Flexible participation around classes and other commitments.
• Coaching, marketing materials, and support.
Compensation:
This is a commission-only independent contractor opportunity, with no hourly wage or guaranteed earnings.
• $5 per qualifying new referral who registers and verifies their email.
• $10 per qualifying listing created by a referred member, up to five listings per person.
• $25 per qualifying completed paid booking of $20 or more by a referred member.
• Additional program bonuses may apply.
Program eligibility and referral rules apply. No purchase or participation fee is required. The current pilot runs through December 10, 2026.
