Department Overview:
MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50+ fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools. We love our staff! All MSCR Recreation Inclusion Staff receive specific Professional Development training geared to working with people with disabilities. We provide ongoing coaching to help grow your skills and offer opportunities to advance. Many of our staff start as a Recreation Inclusion Staff and gain the skills and experience needed to become a Lead RIS, Lead Assistant Director for Inclusion Services or a Field Supervisor!

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or experience with inclusive recreation programming preferred. Experience working in youth programs (childcare, camps, etc) desired. Experience providing behavioral modifications and support a plus. Must have proven dependability, teamwork, ability to make necessary accommodations for individuals with disabilities and readiness to actively participate in all aspects of the program (including swimming and active games). Preferred Qualifications: CPR and First Aid certification a plus. Crisis Management and Intervention Training, Managing Threatening Confrontations training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training or the like are a plus.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Job Description & Duties: Assist with the inclusion of youth with disabilities (Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, etc.) in inclusive summer programs and recreational activities. Provide reasonable accommodations, lead activities indoor and outdoor and collaborate with program staff to ensure active participation of all participants. Work in collaboration with program leaders and other program staff. Duties include providing support to individuals with disabilities, planning and leading activities, supervising indoor and outdoor activities, communicating with parents and supervisors and attending Professional Development workshops. Program Dates: Mandatory paid training June 6 and 10-14, camps begin June 17, 2024. No camp July 4 or 5 Please note unique locations, schedules, and hours for each camp below: -Middle School on the Move West- Hamilton Middle School June 17-August 9, Mon-Fri, 8:45am-4:15pm -Middle School on the Move East- O’Keeffe Middle School June 17-August 9, Mon-Fri, 8:45am-4:15pm -Camp Adventure (outdoors) - Westmorland Park 4 weeks, Burrows Park 4 weeks June 17-August 9, Mon-Fri, 8:45am-4:15pm -Mad City Sports - Hamilton Middle School 3 weeks, Sherman Middle School 3 weeks June 17-August 1, Mon-Fri, 12pm-4:30pm *Part time Work Location: Varies- We try our best to match staff with their location and scheduling preference.
