Department Overview:

Media Solutions, the creative services unit within the School of Medicine and Public Health, is looking for a part-time student graphic designer to join our senior designers. The student graphic designer will join an energetic and forward-thinking team committed to the mission of providing exceptional creative services. Media Solutions is a team of designers, photographers, videographers and illustrators, working to help the health sciences faculty, staff and students communicate their message and capture their story. As a fee-for-service unit within the School of Medicine and Public Health, our focus is on providing innovative solutions that support and enhance the research, instruction and clinical goals of the school. Additionally, we support the broader campus community and community agencies by partnering with them on their creative projects. As a team our goals are: 1) deliver exceptional customer service to new and returning clients, 2) create quality, high production value work that meets our client's project goals, and 3) participate in a collaborative team environment that promotes creativity, flexibility, and productivity.

Qualifications:

Required:
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, non-negotiable
Good grasp of design fundamentals
A portfolio of original, critiqued, graphic design work
Love of independent problem solving, comfortable working autonomously
Experience with management of creative asset file types (PDF, JPG, PSD, AI, etc.)
Working knowledge of Microsoft’s office suite and Adobe Acrobat
Familiarity with printing process for projects and/or willing to learn
A flexible schedule around class responsibilities on a project by project basis.

Preferred:
Familiarity with and/or willing to learn digital accessibility for InDesign projects and PDF files
Undergraduate sophomore or junior, with interest in longevity in the position
Customer/client service experience
Photoshop experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Word
Experience with management of creative asset file types (PDF, JPG, PSD, AI, etc.)
Working knowledge of Microsoft’s office suite and Adobe Acrobat

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Serve and support our two senior graphic designers on a variety of graphic design projects. Majority of the work will be creating documents in InDesign for print or digital output. Some common design projects Media Solutions produces for digital and print are posters, event flyers, brochures, event cards, social media/website graphics, banners, and advertisements.
This is a hybrid role and will report to the creative senior graphic designers and project coordinator.
Medical and scientific graphic design / illustration experience is not required.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work at a computer for periods at a time.
