Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment is a student organization at UW-Madison devoted to the awareness and prevention of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking through education and activism.

Qualifications:

-Must be currently enrolled as a student at UW-Madison
Solid commitment to PAVE’s mission statement and to ending sexual/domestic violence
Willing to commit necessary time to the position in order to help the organization be successful in educating the campus community by putting on campaigns and events in partnership with PAVE volunteers, campus organizations and community partners

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional organizational and verbal skills
Detail oriented and conscientious
Experience creating, planning, organizing and executing projects and events
Ability to work and follow-up with campus allies and volunteers
Experience working with volunteers
Experience creating coalitions and collaborating with other organizations
Creativity and problem solving skills
Marketing skills are preferable
Knowledge of sexual assault, dating violence and primary violence prevention

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Personnel:
- Creates events and projects to educate the campus community about sexual assault and dating/domestic violence
- Works to create events throughout the school year, with a special focus on Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), Stalking Awareness Month (January, observed in February), and Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April).
- Designs and implements various awareness raising campaigns
- Partners and collaborates with various campus organizations to achieve PAVE’s goal of ending sexual assault and dating/domestic violence
- Serves as the central contact and liaison to other student organizations and refers the organizations to other PAVE staff as appropriate
- Keeps PAVE updated on the activities of other student groups which are relevant to PAVE’s mission
- Attends meetings of other relevant groups and actively seeks to co-sponsor events with these groups
- Works closely with other student organizations to plan events that are welcoming for all individuals and communities
- Contacts newspapers, organizations, residence halls, etc. to inform students of PAVE information and events
- In partnership with the Peer Education Coordinator, heightens awareness about PAVE”s Peer Education Program
- Coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure PAVE membership involvement in PAVE events and co-sponsorships

Operational:
- Coordinates meetings with cosponsors and allied organizations when appropriate to effectively plan programming
- Maintains accurate and up to date contact information for volunteers, non-volunteers, student organizations, community groups, media groups, etc.
- Engages with other entities and organizations on campus and in the Madison community in order to create events and to reach and serve a diverse, inclusive audience.

Financial:
- Maintains personal spreadsheet for each event and/or campaign
- Works with the Chair and Financial & Supervision Chair to properly and effectively use PAVE’s budget for campus programming

Basic Staff Responsibilities:
- Attends weekly staff meetings
- Attends events put on by PAVE staff and volunteers
- Meet weekly with either the Chair or the Finance and Supervision Chair
- Participates in the Peer Education Facilitator Training at the beginning of each semester
- Submits accurate timesheets biweekly
- Checks PAVE email twice during the day (morning and evening) and responds to emails in a timely manner
