Department Overview:

 This internship is offered in partnership with SuccessWorks in the College of Letters and Science through the Community Impact Internship Program.

The Wisconsin Academy is a place for people to connect with experts and learn from each other. Founded in 1870 to gather, share, and act upon knowledge for the betterment of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Academy today showcases contemporary Wisconsin art at our James Watrous Gallery, examines science and culture in Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine, and explores pathways to a sustainable future through the Wisconsin Strategy Initiatives. Our Academy Courses and public talks provide opportunities for lifelong learning and personal enrichment, and we recognize excellence through our annual Fiction & Poetry Awards for emerging writers and Fellows Awards for leadership in and across disciplines. We also support the Wisconsin Poet Laureate, Wisconsin Visual Artists, the Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin, and other endeavors that help us to fulfill our mission: to create a better world by connecting Wisconsin people and ideas.

All key program areas of the Wisconsin Academy track data related to their programs using CiviCRM, data quality and consistency is key to operations.

Schedule:

 10-15 hours per week with the possibility to work more; Approximately 50% Remote, 50% In-Person (flexible – prefer in-person training).

Qualifications:

 Applicants must be UW-Madison undergraduate students.

Though all UW-Madison students are welcome to apply for this opportunity, SuccessWorks can only provide funding for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Letters and Science.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Experience or demonstrated interest in data or information science
● Detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated
● Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Be able to dedicate 10-15 hours per week to the internship, including in-person & virtual meetings and events (schedule is moderately flexible)

Position Summary/Job Duties:

● Help identify and analyze existing Wisconsin Academy data to explore areas where data collection or academy engagement may be lacking.
● Build program-specific data dashboards/infographics to tell the story of Wisconsin Academy programs statewide interaction and operations.
● Assist with Academy events (registration support for in-person events if needed).
● Assist the Operations Manager with data collection and consistency
● Other tasks related to the Academy’s data and information needs.

Work Study interns must complete the following additional requirements:
One 30-minute career advising appointment with a SuccessWorks Career Advisor
Participation in one SuccessWorks Careers Event (remote or in-person)
Feedback survey/short interview about their internship experience
