Department Overview:

The Box Office is a new and growing work area for the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Box Office supports the Society's values to better Embrace a Spirit of Service, Exceed Expectations and Think Big and Grow with Purpose. The Box Office is a fast paced environment and is oftentimes the first interaction guests have with the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Please note this position does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire. Work study is required for this position.

Schedule:

Avg. 10-20 hrs./week (up to 32 hrs./week available through summer)
Flexible scheduling possible. Standard shifts are often 6-8 hours, Monday through Friday, between the business hours of 8am to 5pm. Weekend shifts also available. Fully remote work.

Qualifications:

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills.
• Ability to relate professionally and pleasantly to customers and other staff.
• Excellent computer skills, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and fiscal responsibility, including PCI compliance.

Work study is required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Applicants should be reliable with attention to detail. They should be able to work independently and have a willingness to work flexibly and remotely. Additional knowledge of e-commerce or POS or ticketing system(s) preferred but not required.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Assist customers with inquiries and purchase decisions, including Membership program purchasing.
• Monitor box office phone calls and emails, answer questions about events at and visits to historic sites.
• Maintain knowledge of current WHS events and experiences for sale online and sold directly through the site/location.
• Assist customers interested in booking select events over the phone which are not purchasable online.
• Support general ticketing monitoring.
• Ascertain and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and/or requests in a courteous and timely manner with guidance from supervisor as needed.
• Understand and relate purchasing policies to customers.
• Collect complete and accurate data from customers.
• Process over the phone ticket orders using current systems and processes.
• Correctly process payments and reconcile transactions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Position requires ability to sit/work at a computer terminal.
