Schedule:

5 to 15 hours per week.
Tutoring Centers operate 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

Work Study eligible students only.
Currently enrolled student.
Interest in Math Literacy tutoring.
Enjoy working with youth and adults.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Prior tutoring experience is a plus, but is not required.
Comprehensive orientation and ongoing training will be provided by the Madison Metropolitan School District, the United Way of Dane County's Achievement Connections program, and the Morgridge Center for Public Service.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Tutor students to support their success in their current math course, primarily helping with homework and test preparation (lesson plans).
Prepare and ensure that tutoring sessions align with program practices.
Fill in for tutoring sessions as needed and assist other team members in ensuring math preparedness for program students.
Support students in a fun and professional manner that encourages attendance, engagement, and long-term investment in their math learning.
Develop and maintain relationships with students, tutors, AmeriCorps Members, and/or teachers.
Assist in math content creation for tutoring session resources.
Keep track of hours and tutoring sessions log.

The Morgridge Center will provide transportation to La Follette and Vel Phillips Memorial. This position will report directly to their site’s Tutor Coordinator. The Lead Tutor is expected to work collaboratively with their Tutoring Center, focusing on assisting/tutoring students and supporting volunteers.
