Qualifications:
The graduate TA should possess strong knowledge of folklore in the United States and around the world, emphasizing how individuals and groups address issues of identity, authenticity, and authority. The graduate TA should have completed at least one (1) graduate course in the Humanities. Previous teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Familiarity with the use of beliefs, songs, stories, dances, festivals, and artifacts in storytelling. Strong writing, teaching, and grading skills.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The TA's responsibilities may include: Class lecture prep Office hours - 2 hours per week Weekly conference with professor Preparation of one lecture on agreed-upon topic related to folklore Preparation for section meetings Leading discussion section meetings Grading assignments for a Comm B course: PowerPoints, papers, and student conferences Calculating attendance and participation
