CAVR strives to provide a top-notch student employment experience. Our work would not be possible without our student employees – they are at the center of all we do. This looks like:

-Investing in a high-quality onboarding experience and ongoing professional development, including the option to apply CAVR hours and experiences directly to the UW-Madison Leadership Certificate.

-A learning-centered environment where we don’t expect employees to have all skills mastered on day one. We provide space for growth throughout employment through coaching and regular feedback.

-Flexibility to be a student-first. We always schedule around a student employee’s classes and allow for team members to go “on reserve” in semesters where they might choose to take an internship, study abroad, or pull back from work to focus fully on classes, with the option to return to the team in a future semester.

-Retention increases and advancement opportunities within student employment. All team members are invited and encouraged to apply for supervisor and intern roles after one semester of experience. Employees who are in good standing have the opportunity for increased compensation as they continue on our team.

We are committed to reducing bias in the recruitment process and utilize a redacted application process, which is the practice of removing personally identifiable information from application materials, before the screening of applicants begins. This may include, but is not limited to, name, gender, age, education, address, dates (such as graduation dates), photos, references, links to personal webpages, supervisor names, and/or citizenship. We do prioritize work study applicants in our hiring process.
