Position Summary/Job Duties:

LSC 212: Introduction to Science Communication is a 3-credit course that fulfills the Comm B requirement for all undergraduates, is required for the Life Sciences Communication major, and counts toward the LSC certificate.

Job Duties:
• Teach two sections of 20 students each; 40 students total per TA
• Work with course instructor to implement in-class and online activities and ensure a standard curriculum across sections
• Evaluate student work, provide feedback, and submit grades by established deadlines
• Hold office hours and help answer student questions in a timely fashion
• Hold individual writing conferences with students once during semester
• Attend weekly check-in meeting with course instructor (1 to 1.5 hours/week)
• Other duties as assigned

Required Training:
LSC Departmental TA training, CALS New Educator Orientation, and Graduate Assistants Equity Workshops (for new TAs), UW Comm B training (if teaching Comm B for first time). TAs who are international students may also be required to enroll in ESL 370: International Teaching Assistant Training.
