Department Overview:
Housed in the Department of Entomology, the Guedot Lab works on the interactions between insects and fruit crop systems pertaining to pests, pollinators and those in between. Social Wasps: Understanding the role social wasps play in facilitating cluster rot infections in vineyards. Japanese Beetle: Assessing the impact of attract & kill methods for Japanese beetle management as well as determining baseline levels of a microsporidian, Ovavesicula popilliae, used as biological control for JB in other states. Flea Beetle: Examining how entomopathogenic nematodes can be used as a biocontrol of red-headed flea beetle in cranberry systems by targeting the soil-dwelling larvae. Schedule:
Weekdays, 8 am -4 pm. Field work will be mostly collaborative off-campus so it is important to arrive on time.

Qualifications:
Students must be enrolled in classes in Fall of 2025 The ability to drive a university vehicle (clean driving record and 2 years experience on license are required) & drive ~30 min to 2 hr between locations. Able to work outside in most weather & in presence of stinging insects
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Some experience in agricultural settings preferred Entomology coursework preferred Attention to detail
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Molecular- and bio- assays Collecting plant/fruit & insect samples at field sites Laboratory tasks/processing samples Maintaining & emptying traps Assessing damage to foliage Data entry
Physical Demands:
Able to work outside in most weather & in presence of stinging insects. Able to drive up to 2 hrs. Able to carry 30 lbs.
