Department Overview:

The Global Engagement Office (GEO) connects the School of Education (SoE) community with resources, knowledge, and support to engage in and carry out globally focused initiatives. The GEO works with undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff.

Schedule:

This is spring semester position of up to 10 hours per week during our standard open hours between 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays. Some flexibility in working evenings for events is helpful.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and experience with social media. They should be detail-oriented. A person in this position may be privy to confidential information, so candidates must demonstrate trustworthiness. Experience working independently as well as in a team environment is ideal.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To be successful in this position, a student will be able to:
• Identify culturally relevant best practices in higher education marketing, outreach, and representative advisory board/committee structures.
• Link classroom-based learning on issues of equity and inclusion to outreach and engagement on behalf of the Global Engagement Office.
• Apply higher order thinking skills to working through multiple tasks.
• Work independently in an office environment.
• Create clear messaging on social media to diverse audiences.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

1) Assist in planning outreach communication including social media postings for the GEO.
2) Assist in the development of a global advisory board for GEO that consists of international student, faculty, and staff representatives.
3) Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as needed to support the GEO. This may include promoting SoE faculty-led study abroad programs and graduate scholarship opportunities.
4) Meet bi-weekly with the Associate Director and/or Coordinator to share observations and discuss project progression and next steps.

Physical Demands:

As we occasionally host events, the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. is required.
