Department Overview:

The Academic Affairs team within the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a student office assistant to support with on-site administrative duties related to physician faculty development and academic promotion. The student office assistant will work closely with the department’s Academic Affairs Specialist to draft supporting documents such as meeting agendas and presentation slides, as well as update planning and tracking documents used to organize various projects throughout the annual academic affairs cycle.

The Department of Emergency Medicine recognizes that university student employees are learners and offers flexible scheduling within its standard office hours so that students can prioritize their studies and related activities. As such, this position involves a flexible schedule of 10-15 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
• Experience working in an office/administrative setting
• Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Candidates should be detail-oriented and feel confident in their ability to progress concurrent projects efficiently. Candidates will also excel with written communication, including revising and editing.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Academic Affairs Student Office Assistant responsibilities include:
1. Drafting supporting documents such as meeting agendas and presentation slides
2. Updating planning and tracking documents used to organize various projects
3. Utilizing templates to draft emails, memos, and/or thank you notes
4. Suggesting revisions and/or edits to existing materials to enhance message or format
5. Greeting building guests and directing visitors
6. Supporting the academic affairs team with special projects
