Department Overview:

The UW Health Clinical Simulation Program provides robust and realistic learning opportunities to prepare health care professionals for actual patient care. The program offers education opportunities for students, faculty, and staff from UW Health and UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Schedule:

Flexible hours throughout Mon-Fri, with occasional weekends. Opportunities for work hours range from 6am-8pm.

Qualifications:

● Undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or biomedical engineering is preferred, but not required.
● Commitment of at least two years preferred.
● Comfortable working with human and animal cadaveric tissue.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Comfortable using PC-based software applications (Microsoft Word and Excel)
● Experience in human or animal dissection labs preferred, however comfortability in cadaveric tissue handling required.
● Ability to work independently and problem solve
● Possess written and verbal communication skills
● Detail-oriented

Position Summary/Job Duties:

● Set up, tear down, and assist surgical simulation courses, including tissue, instruments, medical devices, medical equipment
● Assist CSP staff and CSP Healthcare Simulation Intern team with other healthcare simulation and skills equipment
● Collaborate with CSP staff and SMPH faculty on simulation model design, creation, and/or implementation

Physical Demands:

Sitting for a duration of time, walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Frequent reaching, carrying, lifting items of various weights, pushing, pulling, grasping, typing, talking-speaking clearly, hearing-conversation, and seeing-near.
