Department Overview:

First Wave is a full-tuition, four-year scholarship program for students that are seniors in high school or freshmen in college that applying to the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Schedule:

To be arranged with your assigned supervisor. Would be in-person work that aligned with your supervisor's hours.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled as a UW-Madison undergraduate student NOT already enrolled in First Wave.

Employment will require UW-Madison to verify your identity and employment eligibility. The employee must physically present original, unexpired documents (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents) as evidence of identity and employment authorization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Experience with creating promotional materials (with programming tools like Canva, AdobeCreate, etc)
- Experience with social media, posting, captioning
- Creative direction and ability to pitch these ideas
- Timely communications and time management skills
- Experience planning events/logistics (via clubs, organizations, small- or large-scale event planning)
- Communications and writing/editing experience
- Ability to reflect on mission/goals and connect to projects and tasks to assure program alignment

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Coordinating events, including logistics, content preparation and more
- Create visual media via Canva and other programs alike for public distribution (newsletters, promotional materials and social media)
- Maintaining program/office records
- Provide administrative support to staff and students
- Independent projects focused on developing identified short and long-term goals that aid in the success of OMAI/First Wave
- Write and edit materials for emails, newsletter publications, and presentations
- Supporting OMAI/First Wave events/showcases/scholar programming
- Staffing the front desk and aiding in student success and staff support
- Person of contact for campus partners coming into OMAI/First Wave office
- Other duties as assigned
