Department Overview:

The Associated Students of Madison (ASM) is the student government on campus, representing the needs of all enrolled students. ASM is the home of student shared governance, and offers advocacy and programs that enhance the student experience and the Wisconsin Experience.

Qualifications:

Graduate student with experience working with diverse populations. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in issues related to food insecurity, basic needs access, and/or community engagement.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

General responsibilities:
- Support and meet regularly with Open Seat student staff to discuss pantry logistics and operations
- Be available to work food distribution shifts as a support person or to fill-in for an absence
- Serve as back-up for ordering food and retail recovery efforts from different vendors (e.g. SecondHarvest)
- Keep current with Open Seat budget in coordination with Advancement Team and Financial Staff
- Advise student staff on food safety, outreach, and communication efforts
- Track pantry data for reporting to internal and external partners
- Support training and coordinating volunteers

Additional responsibilities:
Meet with ASM staff
Participate in any required campus trainings and food safety trainings
Connect regularly with university and community partners that support the pantry

Physical Demands:

Must be able to frequently lift and push 50+ pounds and stand for hours at a time.
