Department Overview:

The University of Wisconsin, UW School of Medicine & Public Health, Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology is seeking a student to fulfill a part-time, in-person administrative support role.

Additional details:

• This is an in-person position. The work location is at the WARF building (610 Walnut Street), which is accessible by bus or bike and is also located close to UW Hospital.
• Pay: $13/hour
• 6-15 hours/week

Schedule:

Flexible scheduling established with supervisor - within regular business hours (8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday) depending on the student's class schedule. Monday, Thursday or Friday in-person availability preferred (at least 3 hours those days).

Qualifications:

o Currently enrolled as a UW-Madison undergraduate student (preference given to a student who can commit to a minimum of two semesters); particular consideration will be given to applicants with one or more years left on their course of study
o Preference for health science, business or finance majors

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

o Able to work independently and with initiative
o Strong organization and record-keeping skills
o Strong communication skills
o MS Office Suite, Outlook
o Familiarity with remote meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom, Webex)
o Attention to detail
o Willing to learn new skills through on-the-job training

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, facilities support (including sending/receiving mail and packages), purchasing, organizing and keeping an inventory of supplies, greeting and escorting occasional visitors, meeting food caterers for special events, scanning, organizing and disposing of files, scheduling meetings via Zoom or Webex and event planning support such as creating promotional flyers and updating a website as needed.

Physical Demands:

Occasional lifting or carrying of documents and small items. Frequent sitting and use of a keyboard and computer.
