Department Overview:

Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment (PAVE) is a student organization dedicated to preventing sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking through education and activism. We reach out to students through our interactive peer education workshops, volunteer and all-campus events, and awareness-raising campaigns.
Our vision is a campus community that practices healthy sexuality, expects and offers respect, and celebrates pleasure so enthusiastically that is incompatible with violence. Join us as we build a community on campus against the violence that empowers its members to be the change they want to see!

Qualifications:

- Must be currently enrolled as a student at UW-Madison
- Solid commitment to PAVE’s mission statement
- Willing to commit necessary time to the position in order to help the organization be successful by coordinating efforts to offer peer-to-peer educational workshops to campus
- Previous experience in facilitating small groups
- Encourage feedback to promote positive dialogue during educational sessions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Exceptional organizational and verbal skills
- Detail oriented and conscientious
- Knowledge of sexual assault, dating violence and primary violence prevention strategies
- Motivation to do outreach out to other organizations and groups of students at UW Madison to assess need and develop new specialized education workshops

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Facilitates advanced and specialized workshops. Develops new tools to educate students. Collaborates with community and university alliances to address sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on campus. Develops and implements campaigns. Works with the Peer Education Coordinators, other PAVE staff and PAVE’s advisor to create specialized workshops for students interested in learning more about sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking after participating in the general workshop. Works with the Peer Education Coordinators, other PAVE staff and advisor to create workshops to better meet the needs of underserved student populations. Works with the Peer Education Coordinators, other PAVE staff and advisor to create workshops for first year students. Follows up with workshop participants to support them and offer other forums for education. Heightens awareness about PAVE’s Peer Education Program and facilitation services. Research best practices to improve workshops and apply to new workshops. Coordinates workshops on campus for various student organizations, residence halls and classes. Fantastic opportunity for those wanting to pursue social justice advocacy and public speaking.
