Schedule:

Must be available to work Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-3 p.m. along with an additional 4 hours in the office between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday; and one or two Saturdays per year for special events.

Qualifications:

Must be a student currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; a strong work ethic; proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Google docs, forms and sheets; familiarly with Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings; data entry experience; and the ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Helpful But Not Required Knowledge: The basics of human subjects research, data privacy, and ethical guidelines for handling sensitive data.
Preferred Skills: Communication, especially with older adults, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, counting, highly accurate data entry, and critical thinking
Required Abilities: Repeatedly lifting and moving chairs and packs of bottled waters, and moving tables and other program and event supplies.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The African Americans Fighting Alzheimer’s in Midlife (AA-FAIM) study is seeking a student hourly worker to assist with many administrative and logistical functions across multiple programs and events. This assistance is crucial to continuing timely and organized execution of programs and events. Assisting with the development and facilitation of programs and events, success measuring/tracking, data entry, community outreach, mailings, and conducting event/program-related research, program and event set up/staffing, and clerical assistance will all be important in this role. This position will work closely with and report to the Outreach Program Coordinator and will include assisting with classes focused on lifestyle interventions to promote brain health such as exercise and arts related programs, and aiding with recognition, community and education events, and more. Additional roles for this student worker will include communicating with cultural competence with a variety of communities, day-of-event assistance, proofreading and occasionally copywriting, assisting with note taking during meetings, making phone calls, scheduling meetings, inventorying and organizing supplies, and other general office duties.

Physical Demands:

Typing on a keyboard. Repeatedly lifting and moving chairs and packs of bottled waters, moving wheeled tables and lifting and arranging other program and event supplies.
