SuccessWorks helps L&S students with every step of the way to getting jobs, internships, or into grad school. We’re located on the third floor of the University Bookstore and we connect students with the advisors, alumni, and employers who can help them explore their interests, try out different occupations, and then land the job, internship, or grad school acceptance connected to their goals. |

Weekly schedules typically occur during standard work hours (Mondays - Fridays between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm) with occasional opportunities for evening and weekend work supporting career programs and events.

Qualifications:

- An undergraduate student (preferably L&S, but it’s not a requirement) who is able to make a 10 hour a week, two semester commitment with a chance to renew the following academic year. - Able to commit to a regular weekly schedule with availability within office hours. Typical hours are between 9 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with some off hours (nights, weekends) for events as available (preference may be given to candidates that have the most availability to work between the hours of 10 am - 2 pm). *No hours are available during winter, spring, or summer breaks* |

- An interest for providing support to fellow L&S students on their career journey - An enthusiasm for working with students from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences - An aptitude for active listening and self-reflection - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Someone who wants to cultivate a growth mindset (you want to learn, reflect and improve in your skills, abilities and perspective) - Eagerness to work in a team environment with an ability to quickly build rapport with others and to collaborate with colleagues - A desire to be effective, creative, solutions-oriented, and to act on opportunities to improve services - Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and make decisions independently, with a strong attention to detail - Proven to be flexible, punctual, and have reliable attendance - Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, Google Workspace, and other similar software platforms - Work study eligibility preferred - Do I need to be a career expert to apply? Nope! You need a positive attitude, a desire to learn, and the ability to demonstrate the skills listed above. Don’t worry about content knowledge--we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
- Serve as a professional representative of SuccessWorks - Provide one-on-one assistance to students on career-related topics, including resume development, cover letter writing, career and internship fair preparation, Handshake navigation, interviewing skills, and networking - Contribute to the creation of a welcoming and inclusive environment through an intentional approach to advising and student interaction - Provide front-line coverage at our reception desk by delivering exemplary customer service over email, over the phone, and as a point of contact for in-person visitors (students, employers, alumni, and visitors) - Support students by answering questions, assisting with scheduling of appointments, reviewing resumes, and directing students to appropriate resources - Develop extensive knowledge of SuccessWorks and broader L&S and campus-wide resources and offices, and make referrals appropriately - Facilitate clothing donations, check-outs, and organization of the SuccessWorks Career Closet - Help ensure the office runs smoothly; maintain inventory of supplies, tidy spaces, keep the office area organized - Represent and assist the SuccessWorks team at various events and programs, engaging with students, alumni, and employers as needed (typically 2-4 times per semester) - What will you get out of this?
