Department Overview:

UHS offers award-winning, high quality medical, mental health, prevention, and wellness services to enrolled UW-Madison students.

Schedule:

This individual is expected to have a regular, weekly in-person schedule ranging from 10-15 hours per week.

Qualifications:

- Though not required, the ideal candidate will continue in the position for a minimum of two semesters.
- Undergraduate student majoring in Communications, Journalism, Public Health, Marketing, Psychology, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Ability to discuss and communicate sensitive health topics.
- Interest in social media and website management, copywriting, visual storytelling, and brand voice development.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects effectively.
- Interest in mental health and/or higher education communication.
- Comfortable researching and interviewing subject matter experts on sensitive health topics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with UHS professional staff and student staff.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Develop engaging messaging that promotes mental health services, builds trust, and reduces stigma.
- Monitor and analyze social media engagement to inform content strategy and improve performance.
- Serve as a UHS brand ambassador by participating in outreach events/tabling events, appearing in videos, and engaging with various audiences through UHS social media accounts.
- Assist with additional communications-related tasks as needed, such as writing newsletters, updating website content, or supporting outreach events.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift 20 pounds.
