Department Overview:

 The Learning More From Adolescents Online (LMFAO) Research Team seeks to identify ways to promote well-being for adolescents and young adults when using technology and digital media. We are specifically interested in decreasing negative social media activities and amplifying positive social media activities for adolescents. Schedule:

 Flexible work schedule to accommodate coursework. Looking for a commitment of between 6 - 12 hours per week.

Office is open M-F

Hours required to be in-person on weekdays between 3:30pm - 7pm

 Ability to dedicate at least 6 hours/week

Fall commitment required, with opportunity to stay on for more semesters

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong attention to detail
Comfortable calling and texting study participants and their parents/guardians
Ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate positively in a team setting
Comfortable working in dynamic environments and asking questions
Passion for psychology research and interdisciplinary research projects
Strong interest in adolescent health and wellbeing

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Recruitment Team members contact adolescent research participants for varying study tasks, including:
Sending text reminders to complete surveys and attend interviews
Texting and calling to schedule interviews
Texting and calling to notify participants of upcoming surveys and brain scans
Answering questions over text
Maintaining data quality in REDCap

Additionally, Recruitment Team members may support some recruitment tasks, including:
Determining participant eligibility
Walking through consent with teens aged 13-15 as well as their legal guardian
Enrolling participants

Required to attend weekly group meetings.

Training is provided over the Summer. Work will generally be in-person, on site.

This position offers valuable experience collaborating with a research team and working directly with teens. Our research spans multiple disciplines, including child development, public health, gender studies, and digital media, allowing students to gain research experience that is relevant in many fields.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.

Physical Demands:

Sitting for extended period in front of a computer screen.

Comfortable talking on the phone for extended periods
