Department Overview:
Based at UW-Madison, the High Road Strategy Center (HRSC) is a national think-and-do tank that promotes “high road” solutions to advance equity, sustainability and democracy in US cities. Housed within HRSC, the Mayors Innovation Project (MIP) fosters peer exchange, policy support, and leadership support among mayors and cities to create more equitable, sustainable, and democratically engaged cities. We seek a detail-oriented and reliable student to provide administrative support primarily to the Mayors Innovation Project. The student(s) will support outreach, data management, and communications. Once the application period has closed, we will be in touch within one week to schedule interviews with a select pool of candidates.

Schedule:
Students can generally pick their own schedule to work around classes as needed, but they must set their schedule in advance, and they must be during regular business hours (between ~9am-5pm, Monday-Friday).

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include: > Experience working independently on administrative work in an office environment (paid or volunteer) > Attention to detail > A positive work ethic > Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Preferred experience includes any or all of the following: > Light policy research or analysis > Interest in local government and public policy > Eloqua (mass email platform) > Data entry, or any experience with database entry and management (we use AirTable)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable student with an interest in public policy/local government to support our work by providing research and administrative support. A pleasant, professional attitude and positive work ethic are a must. Must learn quickly, have some experience doing administrative work in an office environment, and be able to work independently.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
At a minimum, the student will work with our small team of staff to update our database, provide administrative support, and perform outreach via the phone to mayors offices around the country. Students with available time and interest may also be tasked with policy research and writing for our municipal audience.
