Department Overview:
Dr. Steege’s research group is located in the UW-Madison School of Nursing’s Signe Skott Cooper Hall, near UW-Hospital. We have a strong team environment to support research activities. Students will enjoy a modern workspace and working closely with faculty, staff and students to advance research. The UW-Madison School of Nursing is housed on the west end of campus near UW-Hospital in the beautiful Signe Skott Cooper Hall, where employee wellness is a focus. Researchers at the UW–Madison School of Nursing investigate, innovate, collaborate across disciplinary boundaries, and translate research into effective solutions. Schedule:
Schedule will be determined collaboratively between the employer and selected candidate. Some of the work will involve data collection and design sessions with hospital nursing staff that may be scheduled outside the normal business hours of Monday Monday-Friday between 7:30-5:00 p.m. This is necessary to allow for hospital nurse participation. Other work will have some flexibility in timing and there is the potential to work some hours remotely when needed.

Qualifications:
• UW-Madison undergraduate or graduate student • Interest in hospital nursing/human factors engineering • Fluency in English (speaking and writing required) • Demonstrated experience designing and formatting professional quality written documents and visual materials in Microsoft Office and/or Adobe products.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Qualified students must: • Maintain flexibility to work across different tasks and projects simultaneously • Demonstrate good time management skills • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and reliability • Exhibit very strong written and verbal communication skills • Possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity, flexibility and initiative • Demonstrate intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint) • Be confident asking questions when unsure of project direction • Assure attention to detail and accuracy
Position Summary/Job Duties:
This position performs a variety of tasks to support the federally-funded REducing nurse burnout through SysTems analysis and Organizational REdesign (RESTORE) study. Duties include: • Designing participant recruitment and intervention delivery materials • Writing and documenting procedures • Reviewing interview transcripts for accuracy • Searching for scholarly literature • Supporting study Project Manager with planning and logistics tasks • Taking accurate notes during research intervention sessions • Under the direction of Dr. Steege, assisting with recruitment and data collection efforts with nursing staff in hospital settings.
Physical Demands:
This position requires going to hospital nursing units to support data collection.
