Department Overview:
Get in Gear Driving School is a Wisconsin-based driver education company serving teens and adults throughout the Madison metro area. We are expanding our online platform to create a more accessible, student-friendly web experience that supports both classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Our team values creativity, initiative, and professionalism, and offers UW students a chance to build real-world experience in technology, design, and education.

Flexible scheduling between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend hours may be available near project milestones.

Qualifications:
Must be a current UW–Madison student eligible for Federal Work-Study. Excellent organization and time-management Strong attention to detail Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently Clear written communication Comfortable with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar) Proactive problem-solving Ability to follow structured processes skil
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge: Basic understanding of project management concepts such as timelines and deliverables; familiarity with Google Workspace including Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Calendar; general knowledge of digital file organization and version control; understanding of professional communication; basic awareness of workflow processes in small teams. Skills: Strong organizational ability; high attention to detail; clear written communication; effective time-management and prioritization; problem-solving related to organizing information or improving processes; comfort with cloud-based tools; ability to coordinate tasks and follow through reliably. Abilities: Able to work independently with minimal supervision; able to break large projects into smaller steps; able to follow established procedures consistently; able to adapt quickly to new tools or workflow changes; able to communicate progress and issues clearly; able to maintain confidentiality of student information; able to collaborate with creative, tech, and instructor team members.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Assist with maintaining and improving Get in Gear’s website and digital tools. You will help ensure our online systems—such as scheduling, class materials, and content—work smoothly together for both students and instructors.
Physical Demands:
Primarily computer-based work; must be able to sit for extended periods and perform basic office/computer functions.
