Position Summary/Job Duties:
This Educational Assistant (EA) position supports the Insight to Think STEM: Computer and Physical Science Pathways course offered through the Badger Summer Scholars program (BSS). BSS is a two-week, academic program for high school students, both U.S. and International students, taking place in Summer 2026. Educational Assistants are selected for their experience working with youth, interest in the course topic, and commitment to supporting Badger Precollege programs. EA’s play a key role in creating an enriching academic and social experience for students. The EA’s primary responsibility is to provide academic support in the classroom and foster an engaging learning environment. This includes: • Assisting with classroom discussions and activities. • Encouraging students to reflect on course content and connect it to their future goals. • Helping students prepare for guest speakers and supervision during field trips. • Facilitate instructor-designed study group sessions to reinforce course material and support collaborative learning. • Sharing personal educational experiences and guiding students in exploring higher education opportunities. • Ensure adherence to safety rules and regulations to protect student welfare. EA’s may also be responsible for: • Taking daily attendance, tracking student progress, and reporting absences and observations to the Program Manager. • Reviewing rough drafts and providing constructive feedback on projects (e.g., essay outlines, final presentations). • Assisting the instructor during class sessions and supervising students during campus activities. • Thinking critically about troubleshooting issues and resolve conflicts among students • Maintain a professional relationship with students. While friendly interactions are encouraged, your role is that of a mentor, not a friend. • Attend required Badger Precollege and Youth Compliance staff training prior to the program.
