Department Overview:
The Multicultural Student Center (MSC), located in the Red Gym, provides support, advocacy, and co-curricular experiences that center, affirm, and celebrate the varied and intersectional experiences of all UW students. Our spaces, programs and services are designed to cultivate a sense of belonging and community while strengthening all students’ capacity to learn, lead and thrive.

Schedule:
Weekly 1x1 w/ supervisor (1 hour) Bi-weekly All Intern meeting (1.5 hours) BHM weekly meetings (2.5 hours) BCC event support (2 hours) Administrative tasks (Ex. event planning, logistics, responding emails, social media management) (2 hours) *hours will shift slightly in Spring Semester to accommodate for BHM events and responsibilities*

Qualifications:
2.0 Cumulative G.P.A. Required for Hire Undergraduate Written/verbal communications skills Proven collaboration skills Leadership and Involvement on campus Excellent customer service skills Have knowledge and experience in event planning and implementation Familiarity with social media, canva or similar software Be able to work independently with strict deadlines for programs and events Preferred qualification: Experience on the History Month Planning Committee

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Convene and chair planning committee for Black History Month (Oct-March) Coordinate events and programs with student organizations to celebrate Black History month and the Black community Engage in collaboration with other campus partners with similar programming and goals Oversee marketing and promotion of events Assess programs and collect feedback from campus and student attendees Prepare for BHM of the following year Develop programming for the Black Cultural Center focused on community building and education Update and maintain social media presence through posts and engagements Host “office hours” or time in the center to be available for connecting with student population Other Duties as assigned
