Department Overview:
The Information Technology Academy (ITA) provides educational services to diverse students, with the ultimate goal of increasing their enrollment, retention, and graduation rates at UW-Madison.

Qualifications:
Seeking highly responsible college enrolled students in good academic standing who are making satisfactory progress toward a degree. (UW-Madison, Edgewood, Madison College students are all eligible to apply.) Commitment to working with a diverse clientele required. At least 3 semester commitment. Previous teaching, mentoring, and facilitation experience is preferred but not required. All finalists are subject to criminal background checks. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to adapt to a shifting variety of duties; English fluency required. Strong computer skills are desired.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
In consultation with the supervisor and ITA program staff, the person in this position will use and modify pre-developed curricular materials to plan lessons, teach, and evaluate student learning. The instructor should be well-versed and/or willing to learn our unique curriculum consisting of academic and technology topics geared toward engaging high school students in learning. Some example topics we cover are: leadership development, video production, web design, study skills, and career exploration. In addition, the instructor will take attendance, enforce ITA policies and procedures, and report on student progress to parents and ITA staff. NOTE: Typically, student staff focus on either Academic Topics or Technology Topics.
Physical Demands:
At times, we need to transport materials to and from classroom locations. It is not required that all staff have the ability to do this, however, it is up to our staff as a whole to ensure materials are handled well and returned to storage properly.
