Department Overview:

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. This position will work within the Wisconsin Intelligibility, Speech, and Communication (WISC) Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Katie Hustad, PhD). The lab conducts applied clinical research on speech and language development in children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, with a focus on children with cerebral palsy.

Schedule:

20 hours/week. The schedule is flexible; however, some time should be available for work during business hours (7:30am-5:30pm)

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Proficiency with office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
- Proficiency with acoustic analysis software (Audition, Audacity)
- Attention to detail
- Strong written & verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with academic staff and students

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge and use of software for speech and acoustic analysis
- Ability to manage specialized database for entering data from multiple research studies
- Organization and communication skills

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Principal duties will include working with lab staff to:
- complete data analyses using Adobe Audition and Audacity
- complete specialized acoustic analyses using Praat
- assist with data collection for multiple research studies
- recruit and schedule research participants for multiple research studies
- maintain records of research participant enrollment and data collection
- Document lab procedures
- train student hourlies on lab procedures
