Department Overview:
The University of Wisconsin Survey Center (UWSC) conducts high quality research for university professors, federal and state government agencies, and non profit organizations. We do NOT do telemarketing or fund raising. We gather state-of-the-art social science data to help researchers and policy makers study and improve programs and policies in Wisconsin and throughout the United States. Current studies include the Family Health Study, the Wisconsin Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study, and more.

Schedule:
This job will be on site at Sterling Hall. This department is open from 9-5, M-F. Shifts can be scheduled based on your availability. Shifts are 2+ hours long.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
This is NOT a computer coding position. In this position coding refers to assigning values to statements made by research participants (see position summary)
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- The University of Wisconsin Survey Center is currently hiring Educational Coders to assist in a project we are working on in collaboration with Columbia University and the University of Minnesota. - Though “coder” is in the title, this is not a programming job and does not require programming or extensive computer or IT experience. - Coders will be trained on site to use educational coding databases to assess interview transcripts and assign institution and area of study numeric codes based upon those transcripts. - Expected average time per case is 5 minutes or less. - The project is expected to last until August 7th, 2026. At that point there may be the opportunity to shift work to our telephone interviewing department.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit at a computer for the duration of your shifts.
