Department Overview:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is a nationally recognized leader in engineering education and research. The Solar Energy Lab is part of the department’s efforts to develop and improve renewable energy technologies. Through research, education, and outreach, the lab contributes to advancing solar energy systems and supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

Qualifications:

-Current UW student in good standing
-Previous experience in an office, retail, or service-oriented role is preferred
-Demonstrates track record of reliably completing multi-step tasks
-No specific major required, though an interest in energy or engineering is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Ability to write professional and clear emails
-Comfort with website management tools (WordPress or html) is a plus
-Shows an aptitude for document formatting (posters, bios, etc) and aesthetics
-Ability to handle financial documents and spreadsheets.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

-Perform updates to lab website and coordinate with professional web team.
-Organize and schedule lab meetings/speakers
-Manage printing and updating physical signage around the lab/office.
-Assist in organizing digital files, shared equipment, etc.
-General administrative support

Physical Demands:

-Standard desk work
-Ability to hang posters and physical signage
-Ability to transport light-weight items between buildings on the engineering campus
