Department Overview:
The Ed Sci Front Desk is one of the three service front desks under the School of Education (SoE). Located in Ed Sci Building on West Johnson Street, the building houses a significant portion of the SoE’s administrative service units. In addition to service units, the Ed Sci Front Desk also serves Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER), one of the world's largest university-based education research and development centers. WCER's researchers and staff work to make teaching and learning as effective as possible for all ages and all people. Under the leadership of Marcelle Haddix, Dean of SoE, Ed Sci Front Desk is part of the larger vision and initiative “One School” — where we innovate in the arts, education, and health to enrich lives, empower communities, and shape the future.

Qualifications:
Must be a current UW-Student (Preferred candidates will have the ability to work over the summer).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
● Previous office experience preferred ● Proficient computer skills including ○ Microsoft Suite ○ Calendar tools ● Excellent written and oral communication skills ● Excellent customer service, organization, and attention to detail ● Ability to manage time independently
Position Summary/Job Duties:
This is a spring/fall semester position with ideal candidates having Summer and Winter availabilities as well. The start date of this position will be in late August/early September to preferably begin training before the semester begins. This position is located in the Ed Sci front office Room 242 and provides event and general office support for research projects and service units. The primary responsibilities of an Ed Sci Front Desk & Operation Assistant are providing conference room booking and setting up support as well as reception service for the Ed Sci building. In addition, this position will also provide building-wide support for maintaining supplies, key inventories, conference room maintenance, and other additional tasks. All work will be done on-site and in person. Anticipated Hours Per Week: 10-15 during regular semester/20-30 during summer break. Position Summary/Job Duties: ● Providing administrative and event support, including supply inventory, printing documents, posting flyers, coordinating logistics for meetings, and conferences room booking ● Greet and welcome Ed Sci Front Office visitors ● Support Facilities department with general office, building, and conference room cleanliness and maintenance ● Issue keys and update key inventory in an online database ● Assist research projects with administrative tasks as needed ● Direct phone calls and respond to voicemails ● Scan and upload documents to shared filing systems ● Sort and distribute incoming U.S. and interdepartmental mail ● Guide individuals within the building and campus ● Other duties as needed
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time.
