Department Overview:
The Information Specialist Internship Program (ISIP) is designed to provide experience, mentoring, and training that will compliment and enhance each student’s specific academic and career development goals. ISIP’s structure is based upon a two-year cycle, divided by three to four units/modules per year that focus on the foundations of library and information professions. The internship provides participants with experience in different work environments in academic libraries, and essential experiences in the following areas: collection management, information technology, public services, technical services, and general professional development. Interest in learning about library and information professions Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
No prior library experience required. Training provided upon hiring.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Interns complete five half-semester modules that address learning goals in the following areas: Collection Management Information Technology Public Services Technical Services General Professional Development The internship concludes with a full semester capstone experience in support of each intern’s academic or career interests.
