Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
Rooftop, Sculpture, and Garden Maintenance ● Maintain the rooftop sculpture garden, including weeding, watering, seasonal planting, and cleanup. ● Perform light maintenance of outdoor sculptures and hardscape, such as dusting, sweeping, surface cleaning, and gravel care. ● Assist in arranging rooftop furniture and event readiness, including basic setup and takedown as needed. ● Regularly survey and address lounge maintenance needs.
General Building Maintenance ● Replace light bulbs, conduct basic repairs, and perform general upkeep of museum spaces. ● Pressure wash outdoor walkways, maintain interior and exterior cleanliness, and remove snow/ice as needed. ● Assist with event setup and takedown, including tables, chairs, signage, and basic AV support when requested. ● Monitor inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and communicate resupply needs to the Facilities Coordinator. ● Assist with joint facilities and curatorial projects including light construction, painting, and other projects as assigned.
Facility Walkthroughs and Safety Monitoring ● Complete weekly facility walkthroughs using a standardized checklist to identify building or systems issues. ● Report maintenance or safety concerns proactively and propose remedies. ● Support general safety and emergency readiness by checking signage, lighting, and access points.
Shipping And Receiving:
• Manage daily shipping and receiving operations at the loading dock, including coordinating inbound and outbound deliveries and ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently. • Receive, inspect, organize, and distribute incoming shipments while maintaining accurate records and coordinating with vendors, carriers, and internal departments.
Vendor and Contractor Oversight ● Monitor contractors and vendors working in sensitive security or artwork-adjacent areas. ● Ensure adherence to museum safety protocols and communicate expectations clearly. ● Confirm vendor activities align with contract terms and museum standards.
Other Duties as Assigned ● Respond to minor custodial needs when housekeeping staff are unavailable. ● Support seasonal transitions including winterization and summer opening of rooftop areas.
