Department Overview:

 The UW Veterinary Clinical Pathology Laboratory is a fast-paced laboratory that provides laboratory support services for veterinary patients in the hospital. Laboratory services are also provided for campus research and other referring veterinary practices across the state.

Schedule:

 Work is onsite during routine laboratory hours which are 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. Occasional work outside of routine laboratory hours may be possible.

Qualifications:

 Coursework in and/or clinical microbiology laboratory experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Coursework in and/or clinical microbiology laboratory experience.
-Ability to work independently, and prioritize tasks with attention to detail.
-Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
-Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Adobe InDesign or similar software and ability to learn quickly and accurately using other software programs.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position comprises both technical and clerical duties in the UW Veterinary Care, Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. This position will provide technical and clerical support in the microbiology section of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory. Direct supervision is provided by the microbiology section lead. Duties will include assisting with the processing of specimens for microbiologic culture, data entry, special projects, and filing. In addition, the individual will assist with restocking and maintaining the general cleanliness of the lab area and equipment.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
