Schedule:

We are looking for someone who can work three hour shifts, three times a week. These shifts must be between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

We are looking for an undergraduate in the life sciences to provide support for a busy microbiology/biochemistry lab. Training will be provided. We are looking for someone with good organizational and problem solving skills, strong attention to detail, and a love for learning. The person must be able to work well in a team of researchers and after initial training, be able to work semi-independently and carefully follow provided instruction. Person should be reliable and able to commit to scheduled work hours. Your cover letter should state your year and major, why you would like to work in a lab, what skills you would bring to the position, and your specific time availability to work in the lab.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

We prefer someone who has taken a laboratory science class, but would consider others with interest in lab work. Person should have basic math skills, ability to follow instructions, and the ability to observe and learn basic lab skills.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The worker will be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing glassware, preparation of biological media and basic chemical solutions, preparation of agarose gels, and helping to maintain overall lab function.

Physical Demands:

Should be able to lift/carry ~15 pounds.
