The University of Wisconsin Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) is a research and development center with an international reputation for developing instrumentation for both terrestrial and space flight applications. SEEC's mission includes the support of faculty and academic staff research, development, fabrication and implementation of space flight experiments, as well as the development of new meteorological research tools for national and international use. The intern will work individually with SSEC employees to define the work to be completed. The intern will be provided with self guided tutorials on the tools that will be used for the summer projects. Access to experts within our communications team will be available as a resource throughout the summer for questions on the tutorials and summer projects. |

Internship dates are flexible; 10 week internship. Monday - Friday, between 8am - 5pm Potential to continue employment in the fall based on funding and job performance. |

Qualifications: |
Must be currently enrolled for Summer or Fall 2025 at UW-Madison. -Undergraduates currently completing their freshman year or higher are eligible. -Graduate students (including Professional MS students) are eligible. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: |
Previous communications experience and/or science communications are helpful, but not required. |
Position Summary/Job Duties: |
The intern will work with Space Science and Engineering Center communicators to write journalistic online and print articles spanning a variety of atmospheric and science stories. This intern will help promote SSEC’s mission through a variety of digital communication forms and gain experience working with news stories, graphics, photography, video, social media, and web. |
