Student Position – National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) summary: The primary role of this position will be performing the NADP sample archive project, as well as supply receiving and preparation to support the program. Responsibilities will include: receiving and unpacking samples, logging in samples, data entry, archiving samples, supply preparation and shipping and communications with customers. There is a wide range of additional duties as needed, including: copying, scanning, and filing. The position requires effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit and organization. The successful employee must be able to manage time efficiently, pay attention to detail and be able to perform repetitive tasks, but also be able to switch to new tasks efficiently. This position works under general supervision and reports to the NADP Sample and Data Processing Supervisor. The employee in this position is expected to use the tools and principles of quality management in performing their daily work. The employee must demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisors, co-workers and all customers and consistently model appropriate behaviors and assist other staff in developing effective relationships. The employee is expected to provide constructive feedback for the purpose of continuous improvement in a manner that is supportive of the State Laboratory of Hygiene and its mission, use data collection tools as appropriate; use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit; present ideas, carry out assignments, provide information as required and participate in continuous learning through professional development activities.
